Committee of Adjustment/Property Standards

The Committee of Adjustment/Property Standards Appeal Committee is a quasi-judicial committee appointed by Council that serves in the dual capacity of Committee of Adjustment and Property Standards Appeal Committee. The main responsibilities of the Committee include:

  • Hearing applications for Minor Variances and Consents under the Planning Act;
  • Hearing appeals related to orders issued under the Town's Property Standards By-law;
  • Conducting public hearings;
  • Considering comments, concerns, questions, and other submissions presented at public hearings; and
  • Rendering decisions in accordance with applicable legislation.

The Committee is composed of five voting citizen members appointed by Council for a four-year term.
