
With the 2025 budget being approved by Council, staff are diligently moving forward to plan and facilitate major works, including the following projects.
Road Resurfacing
Works will include removing existing asphalt and hard surfaces from the street, minor base work, and resurfacing the roadway with new asphalt. Driveways will be reconnected with asphalt, and minor repairs to shoulders and drainage will be made where possible within the scope of the project.

- Dell Parr Avenue: Beachwood Rd to Glenlake Rd

- Macallister Street N: Beachwood Rd to North End
- Macallister Street S: Glenlake Rd to Beachwood Rd
- Niagara Street: Erie St to South End (Hospital)
- Russel Street: Simcoe St to Saint Lawrence St
- Second Street: High St to Walnut St
- Selkirk Road: Beachwood Rd to North End
- Simcoe Street: Raglan St to West End (50m West of Russell St)
- Spruce Street: First St to Second St*
- Summerview Avenue: Poplar Sideroad to West End of Road
- Sylvian Road: Beachwood Rd to Glenlake Blvd
- York Street: Beachwood Rd to Glen Rd
- Woodcrest Ave: Macallister St. S to Sylvian Rd
*roads may be deferred or increased based on market pricing.
Lane Resurfacing
Works will include the removal of existing asphalt from the lane, minor base work, and resurfacing with new asphalt. Driveways will be reconnected with asphalt and minor repairs to shoulders and drainage where possible within the scope of the project, including:
- Ontario Street South Access Lane to Giant Tiger, IDA, and Service Ontario
Roadway Reconstruction
- Mountain Road Widening: Cambridge to Tenth Line
- St. Paul (Ontario to Fourth) & Fourth (St. Marie to St. Paul) Sanitary Renewal Project
- Third Street Reconstruction and Bridge Rehabilitation (Birch to Oak Sts)
- Minnesota Storm Sewer, phase 2 (St. Paul to Minnesota Sts): only crossing Ontario Street with the concrete box culvert near the western property line of the OPP Station (the entire block will not be reconstructed).
- Highway 26 Resurfacing: Cranberry Trail West to Osler Bluff Road
Major Infrastructure Projects with Work Happening in 2025
- Maple Street and Ninth Street Sanitary Renewal: This project is complete and in the maintenance phase.
- Hurontario Street Reconstruction (Hume to Cameron/ Collins): This project is in the Detail Design phase. Construction is tentatively scheduled for 2028/ 2029, subject to Council approval.
- Peel Street Reconstruction (Hume to Bush): This project is in the Detail Design phase. Construction is tentatively scheduled for 2026, subject to Council approval.
- Minnesota Storm Sewer Replacement Phase 2: The tender will be issued in spring 2025 with construction proceeding in summer 2025. The Ontario Street pedestrian crossing will be delayed until 2026, after utility relocations required to accommodate the new crossing.
- Sixth Street Reconstruction (Watermain project): Construction will be completed in two (2) phases; Phase 1 includes Sixth Street from Hurontario Street to Oak Street, and Phase 2 includes Oak Street to High Street. Utility relocates will be initiated in late 2025. Phase 1 construction is scheduled for 2026 and Phase 2 construction will occur in 2027.
- Mountain Road Improvements (Cambridge Street to Tenth Line): This project is in the Detail Design phase. Detail design and utility relocations have been completed, and tendering for the project will occur in spring 2025, with construction beginning summer 2025.
- Findlay Drive Traffic Calming and Pedestrian Crossing Enhancements: Design work is close to completion for permanent traffic calming and active transportation upgrades on Findlay Drive. Implementation of the final design is anticipated in the summer of 2025, taking into consideration the results of the public engagement held in September 2023.
- High Street (Tenth Street to Poplar Sideroad): A tentative schedule for this project includes completion of the Environmental Assessment Addendum by the spring of 2025. The detail design phase and utility relocates would follow, tentatively in 2025 and 2026, with construction tentatively scheduled for 2030, subject to Council approval.
- High Street (Second to Fifth Street): Improvements, including a new wide multi-use trail on the west side and a sidewalk on the east, are in the works. Design work is set to begin in 2025, with future road infrastructure upgrades, including water main, sanitary sewer, and storm improvements. These enhancements will improve safety, accessibility, and long-term infrastructure reliability for the community.
- High Street (First to Sixth Street): The Detail Design phase of this project is scheduled for 2025/ 2026, with utility relocates scheduled for 2027, and construction scheduled for 2028.
- Second Street and Oak Street Canal Bridge Improvements: Construction was completed in October 2024. This project is currently within the warranty period.
- Stanley Street Drainage Improvements: Further details regarding the next steps are pending a Staff Report and Council direction, anticipated for spring 2025.
- St. Paul Street (Fourth Street to Ontario) and Fourth Street (Ste. Marie to Ste. Paul) Sanitary Reconstruction: Detail design has been completed and this project will be tendered in spring 2025, with construction proceeding in summer 2025. The work includes full reconstruction with new sanitary sewer including services to the property line, new watermain upgrades including services to the property line, and drainage improvements within the project limits including storm sewer and curb and gutter.
