There’s something for everyone at the Collingwood Museum during the month of October!

The Haunted Tour with Dean Hollin is back by popular demand! Tickets go on sale on Thursday, October 3rd and won’t last long! You are guaranteed to have a spook-tacular time listening to terrifying tales and ghostly stories as walk the shadowy streets of Collingwood’s Heritage Conservation District. You will hear about ghostly experiences including the smell of cigar smoke and footsteps in a building that once housed the Enterprise Bulletin newspaper, apparitions in the hallways of a former doctor’s house, the tragic story of one of Ontario’s oldest unsolved murders, and other strange sightings.

Evening guided tours will be offered on Saturday, October 26th and Wednesday, October 30th at 7:00 p.m. The 2 km walking loop will begin and end at the Collingwood Museum and will take approximately 1.5 hours. Limited tickets are available for $15.00 (plus HST and service fee) and can be purchased online through the Collingwood Museum’s website or by calling Museum staff.

Starting October 5th, the Collingwood Museum is hosting From Vimy to Juno, a traveling exhibit from the Juno Beach Centre. This bilingual exhibit honours Canada’s role in the First and Second World Wars while exploring the nation-defining moments at the Battle of Vimy Ridge in 1917 and the D-Day landings on Juno Beach in 1944. The personal stories of Canadians who experienced the wars firsthand are also illuminated. A companion exhibit, on loan from the Royal Canadian Legion, Collingwood Branch 63, will feature First and Second World War uniforms worn by local men and women as part of the Museum’s Community Collectors exhibit series. Both installations will be available for viewing following the Remembrance Day ceremony taking place on the Museum grounds on November 11th.

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Collingwood-built Chi-Cheemaun with Richard J. Thomas, author of the newly published book The Jewel of Georgian Bay: Celebrating 50 Years of the Chi-Cheemaun. The evening event will take place in the taproom at Side Launch Brewery on Tuesday, October 22nd at 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and admission is by a suggested donation of $10.00 per person. Purchase a signed copy of the book at the event for just $29.95 plus GST or secure your copy in advance by visiting the Museum Gift Shop. Museum Members receive a 20% discount.
