
The Town of Collingwood is inviting residents to help shape a more accessible community by sharing their experiences, ideas, and priorities as part of the development of the Town’s 2026–2030 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan.
The Town has hired BDO Canada LLP to lead public engagement for the 2026 to 2030 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan. They want to hear from people with lived experience of disability, caregivers, youth, and ALL community members about what is working and what needs to change.
This project follows the idea of “nothing about us without us.” Meaning, lived experience and community input will guide the development of the new Accessibility Plan.
There are several ways to get involved:
Equity-Deserving Groups Focus Group
Wednesday, January 21, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
FreeSchools Room, Collingwood Public Library, 55 Ste. Marie Street
This session is for people with lived experience of disability from Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, racialized, and other equity-deserving communities who live, work, or are connected to Collingwood.
It’s a welcoming space to share experiences and ideas. Free refreshments will be provided.
In-Person Town Hall
Wednesday, January 21, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
FreeSchools Room, Collingwood Public Library, 55 Ste. Marie Street
Residents, visitors, people with lived experience of disability, and caregivers are invited to share what’s working well, where barriers exist, and what priorities should be included in the new Accessibility Plan.
Youth Focus Group
Thursday, January 22, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
FreeSchools Room, Collingwood Public Library, 55 Ste. Marie Street
This session is for youth who live in, attend school in, or spend time in Collingwood. Youth with lived experience of disability, caregivers, friends, and allies are welcome.
There will be activities and different ways to share ideas.
Free pizza and drinks are provided.
Virtual Town Hall
Thursday, January 29, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The meeting link will be posted on the project page by noon on January 29.
