The Town of Collingwood (Town) is experiencing significant growth and is anticipated to reach a population of 42,700 by 2051. To compensate for this proposed growth, the Town is initiating a Transportation Master Plan (TMP) to enhance our existing transportation network. The TMP will provide the long-range planning necessary to identify needs, establish priorities between vehicles, active transportation (e.g., cycling, trails) and transit, and provide a planning framework for future infrastructure improvements and network development.

The TMP will provide strategies for addressing localized problem areas or desired enhancements within the larger transportation network, as well as crafting policies both for effective management of the network as a whole and for evaluating ongoing requests for traffic calming and controls.
The Process
This study is being undertaken in accordance with Approach #1 of the Master Planning Process, as outlined in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) (March 2023). As such, the TMP will generally address Phases 1 and 2 of the MCEA process and will form the basis for the recommended Schedule B and C transportation infrastructure projects identified within the TMP report.
We Want to Hear from You
Public consultation is a key component of the MCEA process. We look for your input to guide the direction of the TMP, gain an understanding of the concerns and needs of stakeholders, and help in the selection of preferred alternative solutions. To initiate this TMP study, a survey will be launched in January 2024 to help gather information from stakeholders and members of the public about the existing conditions of the Town’s transportation systems.
Please subscribe to the Town’s news and notices to be notified of the launch of the Engage Collingwood project page and survey for this project.
Consultation activities will also include two (2) Public Information Centres (PICs) during the study. PIC#1 is tentatively scheduled for winter/spring 2024 and PIC#2 fall 2024. Following confirmation of a date for PIC#1, information on the venue and time will be posted in winter 2024 on Engage Collingwood, the CollingwoodToday.ca online newspaper, and notices will be sent to stakeholders to notify them of the event.
