The Parks, Recreation and Culture department, on behalf of the Town of Collingwood, is excited to announce a call for artists or artist teams to design and fabricate a public art piece for the newly opened den Bok Family Park, located at 31 Plewes Dr. The goal of this project is to create engaging and inviting artwork that enhances the park experience for all visitors.
The den Bok family has deep roots in the Collingwood area, arriving from Holland in the late 1940s. They initially worked at Smart's Farms and over time purchased their own farm, now part of the Summit View subdivision. Many of their descendants continue to live in the area, making this project a celebration of local history and community.
We invite artists to submit proposals inspired by the themes of farming, harvest, and the joy of outdoor experiences throughout the seasons. The artwork should reflect creativity while honoring the site’s connection to the land.
This project is part of the Town of Collingwood’s Public Art program which aims to:
- Promote creativity and access to artistic experiences.
- Enhance the visual richness of public spaces and cultivate community pride.
- Attract both residents and visitors.
- Recognize artists as vital contributors to a vibrant community.
- Foster community dialogue and preserve cultural identity.
Completed submissions are due by November 18, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. All entries should be sent to artsandculture@collingwood.ca. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Additional details, including application requirements are available on the public art page of our website.
