Earlier this evening, our community was advised of a major water main break that has resulted in a Temporary Service Disruption and a Boil Water Advisory issued by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit. I want to assure residents and businesses that we are doing everything we can to fix the broken water main and to restore safe, reliable water service as quickly as possible. The Town’s emergency management team has been convened and is coordinating with staff and external partners.

At this time, residents and businesses should not consume tap water and must follow the Boil Water Advisory guidelines until further notice. Once repairs are completed, the Town must take multiple water samples to ensure the system is safe. These samples will be tested for bacteria and other harmful organisms, and the advisory will only be lifted when water quality meets all health standards. This process may take approximately five days.

I ask everyone to continue reducing water usage to help conserve supply during this disruption and to avoid the area of Pretty River Parkway and Hume Street, where repair crews are actively working.

I understand the inconvenience this causes, and I thank you for your patience and cooperation as our staff and contractors work diligently alongside the Health Unit. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
