I am thrilled that Premier Doug Ford showed his commitment to Collingwood today.
Since my election as your Mayor, I have been working hard on behalf of our community. One of my key priorities is to secure provincial funding for a new hospital on Poplar Sideroad. Today, Premier Ford toured our hospital and talked to our doctors, nurses, and patients. He heard first-hand the challenges faced daily by our extraordinary medical professionals. During his visit I am pleased to say he repeated several times his pledge to build a new hospital on Poplar Sideroad.
I also met Premier Ford in my office, along with our Chief Administrative Officer Sonya Skinner and MPP Brian Saunderson. We spoke at length about the hospital as well as Council’s shovel-ready project for an expanded water treatment plant that would support growth not only in Collingwood, but New Tecumseth and several other municipalities for decades to come. Premier Ford committed to looking into this prior to the April 15th bid extension date. I took the opportunity to raise many other issues with him that are important to our Council and community, including the lack of family doctors.
I look forward to continuing to build a strong relationship with Premier Ford and the province. Thank you, Premier Ford, for your commitment to getting it done.
Yvonne Hamlin
Mayor
