Are you a modest income earner that has been impacted by rising costs of housing and the lack of affordable housing in Collingwood? Are you interested in making a difference in the community by being part of the Town’s affordable housing work? The Affordable Housing Task Force (AHTF) is looking for passionate and engaged community members to join the team. The AHTF is a citizen-led group that acts as an elevated stakeholder in the affordable housing work of the Town and is responsible for the following:
- Engage with key stakeholders to promote affordable housing initiatives
- Collaborate with the Town to identify and address challenges and opportunities related to affordable housing
- Organize and/or participate in community events, workshops, and outreach activities to raise awareness and educate the public about affordable housing issues and solutions
- Provide feedback on policies, legislation/regulations, programs, and strategies aimed at increasing the availability and accessibility of affordable housing
- Support the Town as an elevated stakeholder in monitoring and evaluating the progress of the Affordable Housing Master Plan implementation, and recommending adjustments or enhancements as needed
- Serve as a liaison between the community and other relevant stakeholders involved in affordable housing initiatives
- Respond to requests of the Town for advice on affordable housing initiatives
The following skills and/or experience would be particularly valuable for participation on the AHTF:
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in community engagement and organizing community events
- Experience in stakeholder engagement
- Individuals with lived experience as a member of a middle income household that has experienced challenges securing appropriate housing would be an asset
If this mandate interests you and you believe you can play an important role on the AHTF, please apply today. Should you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the Town’s Housing Development Coordinator Claire de Souza by email at cdesouza@collingwood.ca.
