Collingwood, ON [13 December 2025] - The Town of Collingwood would like to provide an update regarding the ongoing Boil Water Advisory.
The Water Treatment Plant remained fully operational throughout the watermain break and subsequent repair. Town staff worked continuously to maintain system pressure and restore emergency water levels within the reservoirs and water tower. During this time, residents were asked to conserve water, as significant water loss was occurring at the break location and the priority was to refill emergency storage once repairs were completed.
The water main repair was completed at approximately 2:45 a.m. Following the repair, water samples were collected in accordance with provincial guidelines and established protocols.
The Health Unit has been actively engaged and working collaboratively with the Town to assess the situation. Dr. Lisa Simon, Medical Officer of Health, SMDHU is directly involved, and the MECP Barrie office has also been responsive throughout this process. On‑call inspectors from all agencies have been contacted and kept updated. Water samples have been sent to the laboratory for testing. Please note that these tests require culturing, which takes time to ensure accuracy. All procedures are being followed in accordance with MECP regulations. As a result, the Boil Water Advisory remains in effect until further notice and will only be lifted once the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit confirms that the water is safe. Please continue to reduce water usage immediately to help conserve supply and refer to the Health Unit Website for details: https://www.simcoemuskokahealth.org/Topics/SafeWater/Drinking-water-advisories
Please also continue to avoid Pretty River Parkway and Hume Street intersection, where the watermain break occurred.
Town staff continue to work closely with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.
Further updates will be provided as information becomes available. The Town appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during this time.
