The Town of Collingwood continues to make progress restoring water service, and I want to thank residents and businesses for their patience and understanding. We know this situation has been disruptive, and we truly appreciate the cooperation shown across our community.

An important Public Service Announcement has just been issued by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and the Town regarding the Boil Water Advisory. After further investigation of the watermain break, it has been confirmed that only specific areas are affected and the advisory no longer applies to the entire Town.  Residents and businesses located outside the impacted area are now able to resume using water as usual. The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has provided specific guidance to assist with the safe transition back to regular water use.

The Town has taken water tests across our distribution network, including in the affected area. Samples were delivered to the lab this morning and are being processed. Even though labs are open and responding quickly, this type of testing takes time. The water samples must be tested for bacteria, which need time to grow so they can be detected. This process takes at least two days to ensure the results are accurate and reliable. We appreciate everyone’s patience while this important testing is completed and thank the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit for their quick response and continued cooperation.

I want to sincerely thank Town staff and our contractors who have been working long hours to fix the issue and restore service as safely and quickly as possible.
I would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Royal Canadian Legion for providing space to support residents, and to Ice River Springs for their generous donation of bottled water.

A special thank you as well to Bill Trude and the Trude family, and to the team at Tim Hortons, for providing hot coffee and donuts to the bottled water distribution sites. This kindness has been greatly appreciated by residents, staff, volunteers, and everyone working on the ground during this response.

I am also grateful to our peer municipalities, the County of Simcoe, and the many organizations and individuals who have offered support, resources, and assistance. Your willingness to help reflects the strong partnerships and community spirit that make this region so special.

Collingwood is a community that looks out for one another. To the volunteers, organizations, and neighbours who have stepped up to help, thank you.
We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available. On behalf of Council and Town staff, thank you again for your patience and cooperation as we work toward full restoration.
