Proclamation: International Theatre Day

WHEREAS, Theatre Collingwood was established in 1984 and has, for 42 years, been a registered charitable organization dedicated to enriching the cultural life of Collingwood and surrounding communities through professional live theatre, concerts, and arts education; and

WHEREAS, Theatre Collingwood has played a vital role in fostering creativity, connection, and community pride by producing high-quality performing arts experiences, supporting local and visiting artists, and providing meaningful arts education programs for youth and seniors; and

WHEREAS, Theatre Collingwood’s work contributes to the social, cultural, and economic vitality of the region, enhancing quality of life, encouraging lifelong learning, and strengthening community engagement through the arts; and

WHEREAS, International Theatre Day, celebrated annually on March 27, recognizes the importance of theatre as a universal art form that inspires empathy, imagination, dialogue, and understanding across cultures and generations; and

WHEREAS, Acknowledging Theatre Collingwood on International Theatre Day is an opportunity to celebrate its enduring contribution to arts and culture, its impact on audiences and participants, and its commitment to making the performing arts accessible and meaningful for all; and

WHEREAS, We encourage residents to join in celebrating Theatre Collingwood’s 42 years of service to our community and its ongoing dedication to the performing arts.


NOW THEREFORE, I, Yvonne Hamlin, Mayor of the Town of Collingwood,

DO HEREBY PROCLAIM March 27th 2026 as “International Theatre Day” in the Town of Collingwood.
