Collingwood and Katano, Japan, are proud to share a long-standing Sister City relationship built on friendship, cultural exchange, and mutual respect. Since the twinning relationship was established on November 3r, 1981, both communities have worked together to foster meaningful connections through youth programming, visits and community initiatives.
This relationship provides opportunities for residents of all ages to experience each other’s cultures, strengthen global understanding, and build lasting personal connections. Over the years, these exchanges have deepened appreciation for cultural diversity while reinforcing shared values of community, collaboration, and goodwill.
The Story of the Collingwood-Katano Relationship
The Storyboard Project was created to celebrate, share, and reflect on the long-standing friendship between our two communities. Through photographs, stories, and key milestones, the storyboards highlight cultural exchanges, community connections, and the individuals who have helped sustain this relationship over the years.
