Heritage Collingwood
The Town of Collingwood was the first municipality in Canada to have a Heritage Conservation District (see map) included on the prestigious list of Canada’s Historic Places.
The Town of Collingwood http://www.heritagecollingwood.com/ has valuable information relating to Heritage in Collingwood. There are descriptions and photos of each property within the Heritage District, thanks to the Collingwood Downtown Heritage Conservation District Study and Plan prepared by architect and planner Phillip H. Carter and Associates.
There is also information on heritage grants, permits and guidelines for alterations and new construction, along with downloadable forms and numerous links to other related websites.
Property owners within the Town of Collingwood Downtown Heritage Conservation District or of a property designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act may be eligible to apply for a municipal tax refund. The tax relief program only applies to significant heritage buildings as listed on Schedule “B” of the By-law 2010-020.
